From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
